The 3rd Formal Ways of Analyzing Variation conference will be held at The Graduate Center, one of the twenty four colleges and schools that make up The City University of New York (CUNY).
The CUNY Grad Center is located at 365 Fifth Avenue, between 34th and 35th Streets (diagonally across from the Empire State Building), in Midtown Manhattan. There are many options for travel to New York City:
Air:
New York City is serviced by 3 major international airports, as follows:
Midtown Manhattan is accessible from these airports by taxi (about $45 not including tip), by privately owned shuttle buses (~$15-$20), and by public transportation, i.e., subway/bus (~$2.25-$17.50). Taxis have a set price from JFK into Manhattan, but run on a meter from LaGuardia and Newark (there is also a toll for the tunnel/bridge, a baggage fee and NYC surcharge).
For details on how to get from the airports into Manhattan, see the links above.
Train:
Trains come into either Penn Station or Grand Central Station (both about a 10-15 minute walk from the CUNY Graduate Center).
Bus:
Most buses will drop passengers off near Penn Station (34th St and 7th / 8th Avenues) or at the Port Authority on 8th Avenue (a 15-20 minute walk from the CUNY Graduate Center).
